Silent Guardians

from $35.00

I’ve always felt a strong connection to the American bison. Growing up in western South Dakota and Nebraska, it became more than just a symbol — it felt sacred. In Native American culture, the bison is honored for giving everything and asking for nothing in return. I keep a bison skull in my home for protection, and even have one tattooed on my arm. It’s a reminder of strength, selflessness, and facing life head-on.

The name Silent Guardians comes from that same belief — that bison are protectors. Said to ward off bad spirits, their quiet presence speaks volumes. This piece, with its repetition and shifting color combinations, was a fun experiment at first. But as I created it, I began to notice how each row of skulls took on its own expression, almost like they held different emotions or energies. The variety in color gave each guardian a distinct personality.

Silent Guardians is about the energy you feel when something — or someone — is quietly watching over you. It’s meant to bring a sense of peace, strength, and grounding. Whether it’s seen as a protector, a reminder to stand firm in who you are, or simply a tribute to the land and legacy of the Great Plains, this piece holds its ground — calm, strong, and sacred.

  • Paper Finishing: Smooth matte finish for a clean, glare-free display.

  • Paper Weight: 200 gsm (80 lb), thickness: 0.26 mm (10.3 mils).
